We also have a way for you help make the world just a little bit safer.

The people of Myanmar have had a devastating earthquake and Samaritans Purse is there to help, with your assistance.

There are also some prayer point updates regarding some of our congregation.

And finally, who are you going to invite to our Alpha course that starts in 3 weeks?

Do you want the World to be a Safer Place - For all?

Do you want the World to be a Safer Place - For all?

Tearfund Australia, in association with Micah Australia, are leading an advocacy campaign requesting our Federal Government to increase our international aid to 1% of the Federal Budget. Currently Australia gives just 0.68% of the Federal budget to international aid.

From Tearfund:

"As global need increases, and people just like us are in need of help, Australia is giving less. It doesn’t really feel like being good neighbours. But you can make a difference.
Join thousands of Aussies calling for aid to increase to at least 1% of the federal budget."

Add your voice and send an email to your MP by filling in the form via the link below. It’s quick, easy and will make a huge difference.

A letter from Samaritans Purse

Dear Friends,

Samaritan’s Purse is airlifting an Emergency Field Hospital—along with other desperately needed relief—to Myanmar following a devastating earthquake near Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city. This is the most powerful quake to hit this region in over a century. Many homes and buildings were levelled, and at least 1,700 people were killed, with the death toll expected to climb. Local hospitals are overwhelmed as thousands require urgent care to treat their injuries

Hundreds of thousands of Mandalay residents have been left with nothing—sleeping outside in the elements as powerful aftershocks continue. We have mobilised our Disaster Assistance Response Team—including team members from Australia—to join our international response to provide life-saving care. We are also sending emergency relief supplies, including tarps, solar lights, and water filtration systems, with additional flights scheduled in the coming days.

Samaritan’s Purse has worked in Myanmar previously, and we have a strong network of local church partners there. We have staff on the ground now, with dozens more joining them in the coming days. Pray for them as they work alongside our partners to bring physical relief and share the love of Christ with those who are vulnerable and hurting.

Most importantly, please pray for those who are suffering. "For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper" (Psalm 72:12).

Franklin Graham, President
