Welcome to CV Connect #10 of 2025Helping you better connect with Camden Valley Church
Well hello everyone. Here is an interesting thought - Are we on the run up to Spring? We have had Christmas in July and the Mid-Winter Gathering. Does that mean winter is on the decline? Is the real Christmas sneaking up on us ? Our Alpha course started with a bang last Sunday and continues each Sunday so please keep the particpants and organizers in your prayers. Even so, that does not mean you or a friend cannot still start attending. This week we have a new contributor to our newsletter - check out the 1 Minute Sermon. We also have photographic evidence of the great time had by all at Christmas in July. Thanks to Robyn and Brett and Tiffany. As July draws to a close, we thank those that particapated in Plastice Free July. Every little reduction in plastic use helps to preserve the environment for the future. Staff contact details and Ways to Give to our church. |

Matthew 5:20
Unless your righteousness surpasses that
The defining characteristic of Christian disciples is not that they do good things; it’s that they are good in their motives. Their motives have been made good by the supernatural grace of God. The only thing that surpasses right doing is right being. Jesus Christ came to put a new heredity into anyone who would let him, a heredity that would surpass the righteousness of the Pharisees. Jesus says, in essence, “If you are my disciple, you must be right not only in how you live but also in your motives and your dreams, in the deepest recesses of your mind. You must be so pure in your motives that God Almighty can see nothing to censure.” Who can stand in the eternal light of God and have nothing for God to censure? Only the Son of God. Jesus Christ claims that, by the power of his redemption, he can put his own disposition into anyone, making them as pure and simple as a child. The purity God demands is impossible for me unless I can be remade from within—and this is exactly what Jesus Christ has undertaken with his redemption. None of us can make ourselves pure by obeying laws. Jesus Christ doesn’t give us rules and regulations. His teachings are truths which only he can interpret. If we wish to understand them, we must do so through the disposition he puts in us—his own disposition. This is what it means that Jesus Christ alters our heredity: he doesn’t alter human nature; he alters the disposition of sin that lies beneath it. This is the great marvel of his salvation. |

Daily Bible Study
The suggested Daily Bible Study for 2025 is from Got Questions. This is available as an app for Apple and Android phones and also as a website. Follow the link below to learn more and see some sample questions and answers.
Also, you may have heard several people refer to 'Lectio' over the past few months. Lectio 365 is a free app (Apple and Android) that is a daily devotional to help you pause in the presence of God. It is written (and vocalised) by leaders of the 24-7 Prayer movement. Their website is https://www.24-7prayer.com. With Lectio 365 you pray the Bible by meditating on the scriptures and asking God to speak through them. For more infomation visit:
